Desk - Office Health Hazards
by Ethan C Kalvin

Research now is revealing the devastating effects that a sedentary lifestyle and work day have on the body. It used to be that setting at a desk all day way the dream job and blessing could in reality be a curse. Staying healthy must include activity, if not, you will experience circulation problems as well as back pain and neck issues.

People who spend massive amounts of time looking into the computer screen do get more headaches and deal with vision problems more often than persons who don't. It is now believed that setting too long behind a desk is more dangerous than anyone previously thought. These individuals tend to practice bad eating habits, including more frequent snacks, and have increased weight noticeable around the middle which research also shows causes even more health problems and more dangerous.

If all this describes your situation, you might be wondering if there is anything that you can do, because you can't just quit your job. There is no need to fret about your dilemma, there is hope for anyone who is desk bound employed, who whats to improve their health and remain working at their present job. They can start with changing the foods they snack on and space the snacking farther apart. Re portion the sizes so that you don't unintentionally overeat.

Never underestimate the value that exercise breaks have on the body and mind. Just a 15 minute break every two hours will do wonders for work related stress during the day. Using this time to take a brisk walk outside or on the stair flights close by will greatly increase your health. Yoga poses are also a great way to spend a break and reap some great health benefits at work.

Computers are not entering the workplace that will help executives have the best of both worlds every day. Executive computers have added extras that allow the executive to multi task, meaning they can work at the computer while they do their treadmill routine and get fit while being work productive. This new approach to productivity is not cut out for everyone and some people find it harder to multi task in this manner. The success really depends on the person and their multitasking skills.

Computer work can also be very taxing on the wrists and about 50% of people who spend large amounts of time on a computer or laptop experience at least moderate carpal tunnel problems. Bracing can be of significant help with this issue as well and can help to prevent the need for surgery. Desk work may seem like a walk in the park but it is actually very taxing on the entire body. Making the most of this type of work means being aware of the issues that can arise and creating little adaptations to make this a healthier work situation.

Activity and affordable health insurance is the simplest way to stay healthy. A good HMO plan might be just what your family wants.
